NOGA QRP Run For the Kudzu

NOGA Pig

The October 2nd meeting of NOGA will be the "Run for the Kudzu". We have reserved the pavilion at the Athens Boat Club at Lake Lanier from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The pavilion has restroom facilities.

We will provide grills and charcoal and participants will be responsible for their own food and drink.

There is enough room on the 67+ acres for 10 to 12 operators to have a place with trees separated from other operators. Since most of the property is used for leased cottage lots, we will identify the places where operations can be conducted and will probably hold a lottery for the identified operating areas on the grounds.

In case of inclement weather, we can provide covered operating locations for 5 or 6 operators (we might want to form 2 man teams if there are a lot of entrants.)

Written rules will be handed out along with the site auction just after lunch. The event will begin at 1:00 pm and end of 4:00 pm. We will all gather back at the pavilion at that time to listen to all the tall tales.

Each entrant must be accompanied by an unbiased referee of the highest integrity (good luck) to verify that operations only begin at the designated time and the contacts are actually made at specific times.

Everyone that is interested in portable (emergency???) QRP operations is welcome to come either as an entrant, referee or just observe. You are welcome to bring family and friends if you would like.

Since this is a private club we am not going to publish the directions on the Internet for the whole world, but if you will send Pickett, AD4S, an e-mail, he will send you the directions or if you have any question. He can give directions from Atlanta and Gainesville. If you live somewhere else... let him know and he will try to steer you in the right direction. (like coming from Athens)
